Guidelines for Gambinomafia
General
§1 – About the game and liability
Gambinomafia is a free, text-based online game that only requires access to the internet. We accept no liability for loss of valuables, Gold Membership, points, items, money or time – unless the loss is directly caused by the game's developer or management. This also applies if the game has to be reset due to server or technical faults, or when management considers it necessary. Lost valuables are not refunded without a reasonable justification.
§2 – Management's rights
Management (Moderator or higher) may at any time warn, deactivate, IP-ban or suspend a user account for breaches of these guidelines or when there is just cause. Measures are decided on an overall assessment. We accept no liability for valuables lost as a result of such measures.
§3 – Graphic content
The game may contain graphic content that some may find offensive.
§4 – Changes to the guidelines
The guidelines may be changed without notice. It is your own responsibility to stay updated. Being unaware of a rule does not exempt you from responsibility in a case.
User account
§10 – One account per player
You may only have one active user account. You are not allowed to play on other people's accounts, let others play on yours, or take over other people's accounts. If multiple accounts are suspected, management may temporarily deactivate you until you can document otherwise.
§11 – Multiple users on the same IP
If you share an IP address with family or friends who also play, you are obliged to inform management about this. If you fail to do so, the accounts may be deactivated under §2. It is not permitted to exchange valuables between accounts on the same IP address unless it has been documented to management that they belong to unique users.
§12 – Transfer of valuables between accounts
Transferring valuables, points, items or company from one account to another is not permitted. Gold Membership may be transferred, as it is an ongoing service – contact support. If we detect a clear attempt to transfer valuables from an old to a new account, by any method, we will remove the valuables without notice. We have logging systems that detect this.
§13 – Account and name change
Usernames can be changed once every 30 days, and may be a maximum of 12 characters (including spaces). Account changes are only permitted when the main account is killed, deactivated or suspended. When registering a new account, you are obliged to inform management so that the account with the status "respawn" can be deactivated. Contact support if you wish to change account or name.
§14 – False identity
Under no circumstances are you allowed to pretend to be part of management, or to use a username that can be confused with management. Usernames that are offensive or otherwise insulting are also not permitted. Management's names may not be used in connection with fraud. Breaches may lead to a demand to change your username, or permanent suspension if this is not complied with.
Game integrity
§20 – Cheating and third-party programs
It is forbidden to use programs or scripts that play for you (bots), as well as any form of hacking and cheating. What counts as cheating is decided by management on an overall assessment.
§21 – Fraud between players
Fraud involving assets that exist only within the game is an accepted part of the Gambinomafia experience. Such dealings take place at the players' own risk, and management neither mediates in nor compensates for losses that arise between players inside the game.
Any form of fraud involving money or other assets of real economic value outside the game (hereinafter "IRL assets" ) is strictly prohibited. Gambinomafia is not a party to, does not facilitate and bears no responsibility for agreements, transactions or losses concerning IRL assets between players, regardless of whether the matter arose in connection with the game.
Where a breach is suspected, management reserves the right to deactivate or suspend the accounts involved without notice under §2 in order to protect the game and other players. This entails no obligation for Gambinomafia to investigate, adjudicate or compensate the matter. Disputes over IRL assets are a private legal matter between the parties, and where relevant a matter for the police or other authorities. Management may disclose necessary information to authorities where required by law.
§22 – Errors and bugs
All errors and bugs must be reported to management via support immediately. If you exploit an error without reporting it, your account may be suspended under §2. We reward reports that lead to an error being fixed. Management assesses the severity, and payment is made only once the error has been fixed:
Critical – 250 000 000 kr (e.g. a money bug, or something with major consequences for users)
Important – 70 000 000 kr (e.g. a feature that does not work, or incorrect behavior in a feature)
Low – 25 000 000 kr (e.g. a typo or a minor design flaw)
Communication
§30 – Conduct
Harassment, threats, racism, personal attacks and other offensive content directed at other players or management is not permitted. Breaches may lead to a warning or suspension under §2, based on an overall assessment.
§31 – Language and sanctions
Gambinomafia is a platform where disagreements, discussions and rough language may occur. In public chat and the forum, the line is drawn at direct personal attacks, which count as bullying and harassment. This is punished according to the following escalating scale:
Less serious – 30 min to 1 hour
1st ban – 6 hours
2nd ban – 12 hours
3rd ban – 3 days
4th ban – 5 days
5th ban – suspension for an indefinite period (a review case for management)
Use one of the game's official written languages (Norwegian or English) to avoid misunderstandings. Avoid text-message slang, unnecessary use of capital letters, and excessive use of punctuation and emoticons.
§32 – Spam
Spamming in chat, forum, private messages, guestbook, etc. is not permitted. Spam is defined as several messages sent in a short time with little relevant content. Breaches may lead to a warning or suspension under §2.
§33 – Forum
The topic title must describe the content and be at least two words, and the first post must make clear what the thread is about. Short posts made only to increase your post count count as spam. Bumping your own threads is limited to a maximum of two times, with at least 24 hours between each – you may still reply to your own thread if you have new information to add. Stay on the thread's topic, and avoid excessive use of capital letters and punctuation.
Do not point out typos in the thread – send a friendly private message instead. If you believe a post breaches the guidelines, use the reporting function rather than writing it in the thread. Moderation must not be discussed in the thread being moderated; provide feedback by reporting the post to management.
§34 – Advertising and criticism
Advertising or promoting competing online games in the same genre as Gambinomafia is not permitted. This does not apply to references to other websites in general, such as news sites and the like. Breaches may lead to suspension under §2.
We value feedback and want to make the game better. If you have criticism of the game or its management, we ask you to raise it with us through the support function rather than publicly in chat or on the forum. That way we can look into the matter and, where possible, resolve the problem. We reserve the right to remove content whose sole purpose is to disparage the game or its management.
§35 – Contact with management
If management contacts you regarding a case, you are obliged to reply in an objective and respectful manner. You are free to disagree, but failing to reply or refusing to cooperate may be taken into account in management's overall assessment.
If your account is deactivated, you must not use another account to communicate on the forum, support or in private messages. Use the contact form at login instead. Circumventing a deactivation in this way may lead to suspension under §2.
§36 – Evidence in cases
If you submit evidence in a case, management assesses it based on the content of the case. Note that screenshots of chat do not count as valid evidence on their own, as such content can easily be false or manipulated.
Content and copyright
§40 – File uploads and copyright
You are yourself responsible for the content you upload, including any legal violations such as uploading harmful files or material you do not hold the rights to. Management may delete or edit uploaded material without notice. If a breach of copyright law is suspected, management may ask you to document that you hold the rights to the material. Breaches are handled under §2.
